Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information [ICECAL LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“IceCal,” “we,” “us”) collects through the IceCal mobile application (the “App”), why we collect it, and how you can control it.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. If you create an account: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. Guest sessions don’t require any of this.
• Health and fitness information you provide. Age, sex, height, weight, activity level, and your stated goal (lose, maintain, or gain weight), used to calculate your daily calorie and macro targets.
• Food logs. Meal photos, voice recordings, and text descriptions you submit to log food, along with the calorie/macro results IceCal calculates from them.
• Weight history you choose to log over time.
• Coach conversations with IceCal’s AI coach feature.
• Subscription status (free, guest, or premium) and purchase receipts, handled through Apple/Google billing and RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your card details.
• Device push token, if you enable notifications.

2. How your data is processed

To log a meal, the photo, voice recording, or text you submit is sent to third-party AI services for analysis, and the resulting food and nutrition data is stored in your account:

• OpenAI processes meal photos, voice recordings, and text to identify food items and estimate calories/macros, and powers the AI coach feature.
• Google Cloud Vision performs text recognition (OCR) on meal photos to read nutrition labels more precisely, where available.
• Supabase hosts our database and stores your account and log data.
• RevenueCat manages subscription status and links it to your purchase receipt from the App Store or Google Play.

Each of these providers processes your data only as necessary to provide their service to us, under their own privacy and security commitments.

3. Why we collect it

We use your information to:

• Identify food and estimate calories/macros from what you log
• Calculate personalized calorie and macro targets
• Track your progress, streaks, and badges over time
• Power the AI coach’s responses to your questions
• Process subscription purchases and enforce usage limits
• Send you notifications you’ve opted into
• Maintain and improve the App’s accuracy and reliability

4. Data retention and deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Me → Account Settings → Delete Account, which requires password confirmation and immediately and permanently removes your profile, food logs, weight history, and coach conversations.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or request a copy of your personal data, in addition to deleting it directly in the App. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@icecal.app.

6. Children’s privacy

IceCal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and hashed passwords, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
